The Municipality of Stalettì recently hosted a technical meeting to coordinate the development and improvement of trails, walking routes, cycle routes, and related paths across the territory. The discussion focused on how the different projects can share maintenance, signage, site improvements, and promotion instead of working in isolation. Five projects are currently moving forward at different stages, but they share the same coastal corridor, the Cassiodoro theme, and many of the area’s most important natural, historic, and archaeological landmarks. These include the Vasche di Cassiodoro in Copanello, Grotta Vulcano, the Panajia chapel in Caminia, Pietragrande, Via Randa, Fons Aretusa, the Castrum, Santa Maria Vetere, the Tomb of Cassiodoro, and the historic village. Participants also addressed practical obstacles such as barriers to access, crossings through private property, cleaning, safety improvements, and road crossings. The broader goal is to protect heritage and support a more sustainable, year-round tourism offer that can benefit the local economy.
